Damaged URS Bin

Across some of Reside's estates, residents' rubbish is collected underground. This is what they look like:

General Household Waste Bin

The silver or grey URS bins are for any general household rubbish you put in 20L bin bags or carrier bags that can't be recycled.

Recycling Waste Bin

The blue URS bins are for recyclable materials only. This can include glass bottles, plastic containers, mixed paper and cans.

Let's work together

Think of the URS as a giant communal bin. Because all residents in certain areas use this facility, it's important for everyone to be considerate – and that includes how we take care of the system for you.

  • Please don't leave your bags around the URS containers. This can attract rats, foxes and other pests.
  • Please don't try to force oversized rubbish bags into the URS as it can damage it. Blockages and split bags can cause mess for other residents. Only use 20L bin bags or smaller; a standard carrier bag is a good indication of the size of bag to use.
  • If you have used the incorrect size bin bag, please do not leave it by the URS bins – instead take it back home and transfer your waste to the correct size bags.

URS bins are emptied regularly on a weekly basis.

We aim to service and deep clean our URS units twice a year with a specialist team.

If the URS bin is overflowing or not collected as scheduled, please report it to London Borough of Barking and Dagenham.
