Mill Point
B&D Reside Communications Team
The lifts in Mill Point have not been reliable for some time. Their performance has caused distress and concern for many residents, and the situation has recently become worse now that one lift is completely out of action. We want to explain what we are doing and how we intend to improve the level of service and reliability of the lifts.
First, we want to reassure that we will never keep a lift in service unless we are confident that it is safe to do so. We have access to a highly qualified, specialist lift engineer who advises us on all aspects of the lifts at Mill Point.
Resolving the longstanding issues that have plagued the lifts is likely to take some time. We understand that it is inconvenient and frustrating when the lifts are out of service, even when this is to undertake scheduled work.
We have already commissioned a report that will help us understand the mechanical and operational issues and outline the potential remedies to help deliver a better service. The report has been promised before the end of this month, and we expect to receive an interim update before then.
Once we have a full and detailed understanding, we will be able to prepare a proposal for the work needed.
It would not be right to provide a timeframe now as we simply do not have enough information. However, we are planning to provide a further update, including a better outline of the timescales by mid-July.
In the meantime, if you have any concerns about the current lift situation, or if you know that one of your neighbours might want to talk to someone about the lifts, please let us know by emailing enquiries@bdreside.co.uk.
