Building safety inspections

B&D Reside Communications Team

Blog

As part of our ongoing commitment to high standards of building safety and maintenance, a programme of routine compliance inspections of selected balconies will begin shortly. This work has been initiated by Wates, which was the lead construction company responsible for constructing those buildings, including the balconies.

These inspections are routine, and no specific safety issues are expected to be found. They form part of a wider effort to provide reassurance about the quality and durability of the balconies across the estate.

An independent contractor, appointed by Wates, will be in direct contact with each resident to arrange a convenient time. Each visit is expected to take no more than one to two hours.

What to expect

Contractor support

The contractor will carefully clear any items from the balcony at the start of the inspection and return them afterwards.

Access requirements

We ask that residents please ensure that someone is available at the agreed time to give access to the balcony. The contractor will not enter homes without permission.

Keeping everyone safe

For safety, the contractor has been instructed not to handle any hazardous or flammable materials such as barbecues, gas canisters, or similar, that they may find on the balcony, but to let us know what they have found. Just a reminder that items like barbecues or gas canisters should not be kept in your home.

If you have any questions, or you would like support in preparing for the visit, please contact our resident services team on enquiries@bdreside.co.uk or 020 8215 3000.

Thank you for your cooperation and continued support.
